Twelve week countdown…Turkey, UZ and TM

A trip that has been much more logistically challenging to plan than anticipated is only twelve weeks away.   We have spent the last 2-3 months working with our local Central Asia rep in an effort to develop a workable itinerary for a 10-12 day trip to Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.  I had no idea the difficulty involved in securing a Turkmenistan visa.  Getting into Iran was a proverbial walk in the park compared to this.  Still, I am very much looking forward to the trip but there is still much preparation left to do; we haven’t begun to concentrate on the Turkey section of the trip–which will be at least 5 days.  I look forward to providing reports from this area of the world–the farthest east I have ever traveled.
