First Long Vespa Trip

My Vespa GTV and I arrive at Lake Cumberland

My Vespa GTV and I arrive at Lake Cumberland

I decided to take my first long ride on the Vespa GTV and packed the camping gear and made my way to Lake Cumberland, KY this past weekend.  It is a trip of about 150 miles on KY back roads that I extended another 25 more miles so that I could cross the Tennessee border.  Had a great buffet lunch at the Lake Cumberland Lodge when I arrived and then setup camp and then went out exploring the area.  I will say that I enjoyed the experience much more than I anticipated and look forward to planning much longer trips…probably next year.  I have to get comfortable doing some basic maintenance so I am not stranded in the middle of nowhere.  Still, the little scoot easily did 70mph on some stretches of road and could keep up with the cars with no problem.  Here are a few more pics:

Back from CA…

On the tram in Mariposa Grove

Emily and Reagen on the tram in Mariposa Grove at Yosemite

We just returned from our week-long family trip to central California traveling 1200 miles in our crappy Dodge rental van in a large irregular circle from San Fran to Yosemite to Carmel Valley then back to San Fran.  We had stops in Sonora, Oakhurst, Merced, Big Sur, Carmel by the Sea, Monterey and Pebble Beach, Napa and Sonoma (visiting Frog’s Leap and Sterling Vineyards).  A lot to do in 7 days but we managed to fit everything in.  I won’t go into much detail at the moment but will share lots of photos.

Photos from Iran – Part 1

I have not had much time to go through all of my photos but I did manage to choose some to post today.  I’ll look through the rest as I get time.  As usual, they looked much better on the small screen of my camera…I might get one good photo for each 100 I take. Click on the first photo to start the slideshow.  Make sure you visit both photo pages in the post.
